n hair is used as a protection shield for the human body although it is not as strong when compared with the porcupine spines. This natural protecting shield helps the sense organs to function properly and act immediately. Hair present over the eyelids is called eyelashes and it protects the eyes from dirt and dust particles by making them to close. Hairs are sensitive to physical touch and also can sense air movements. Hair is present above the eyelids in the form of eyebrows. Hair is protected by using hats, scarf and umbrellas which helps to restrict the dust settling in the head. Hair present on the human body is relatively thinner as well as shorter when compared to the hairs on animals. The human hair is translucent that looks as it is invisible especially on females. The presence of sweat glands in humans could be due to changes in the hair. Human hair plays an important role in preventing the heat radiations from the sun but many people remove hair for cosmetic reasons. Removal of human hair from the skin’s surface is called depilation and the entire removal of the hair is called epilation. Hair can be removed either by shaving or waxing.
